Safely Store and Move Data using Jump Drives
Moving and storing data
is now easier than ever before with jump drive technology. A jump drive- also
known as a USB drive, flash drive, keychain drive, or disk-on-key is a portable storage device that is light enough to attach
to a key chain. A jump drive, which looks very much like an ordinary highlighter marker pen, can be used in place of a floppy
disk, zip drive disk, or CD. Just plug the device into their USB port, the computer's operating system recognizes the device
as a removable drive and assigns it a drive letter. Unlike most removable drives, a jump drive does not require rebooting
after it's attached, does not require batteries or an external power supply. Some manufacturers offer features such as password
protection. Jump drives are available in capacities ranging from 8 MB to 2 gigabytes, and various price ranges.
Technology and Communications
Education has changed. There is a greater emphasis on student testing and achievement exams
these days. There are regulations for students with special education and disability needs. There is a lot of paperwork. But
there is new technology that can help. One of the best innovations is the electronic gradebook.
Regardless of your method, an electronic gradebook can help you. When you are making the decision to
switch to a computerized grade keeping system, the first decision you have to make might not even be your own. Some school
districts require you to use a paper gradebook that you have to turn in. The district’s chief concern is that they don’t
want you to lose your student’s grades if something should happen to the computer. Gradebook
programs don’t just compute grades, they give you reports. Reports that have many uses such as meeting with the principal,
guidance counselor or the special education teacher. Information that can be sent home to parents. One program that is currently
available for purchase is gradespeed. More information can be found at: http://www.gradespeed.net/
